Flying Lotus
So, me and the homeys were at the Redbull Space for a workshop on the Redbull Music Academy and Flying Lotus was one of the guest speakers. I had a chance to speak with him during the Q & A session and he said we should smoke a blunt and talk more later. Unfortunately, the blunt never happened but he did get on the set and proceed to absolutely kill shit. The beats this guy makes are RETARDO. Like short bus with rims retardo. God Bless 'Merica
This 4th of July was pretty epic. Not like meeting the President epic, but Brooklyn epic. If you don't know what that's about then you just don't know. Anyway, me and the homeys got up on a rooftop, got some grillin' in (thanks Dave and your girlfriend who's name I keep forgetting), blew up some fireworks, drank some brew's, listened to some west side rap and death metal, and basically did the damn thing till night fall. Then we lurked around and ended up at a loft party till like 7am or something. At least that's what time I think I left...

So, I've know this dude Code-D for a while through the DJ circuit in NY. Mad cool and a hella good on the scratch. Lately, he's been throwing some cool parties in BK (that rooftop party in Willy B a couple months back was bonkers) and stepped up his production game. I decided it was time for GWG to have a talk with the homey.

Where do you live now?
Brooklyn
I've seen your stickers all over Brooklyn and NYC lately. What is T.A.D.T. (The American Dream Team) about and who's in it?
TADT is mainly Me & Dan Savage (www.somethingsavage.com). I write all the tunes & do all the DJing, then Dan covers all the visuals. Really what we are all about is making banging club tracks & crazy visuals combining them and making it a whole in your face production. So something for the design heads and music heads.
You ever get caught by the cops while putting up stickers? My boy just got bagged recently...
Haha. Well not actually bagged but when I was in Miami this year at the Scion party, a cop seen me put one up on a port-a-potty. Once I heard him yelling I pretended like I didn't and tried to get over to the VIP area but soon as I thought I was cool he grabbed me by the neck and drug me through the dance floor. He asked me "How I would like it if someone did that to my house" & I told him "I didn't live in a port-a-potty" then he took my promo cds, stickers and tried to throw me out. Lucky, I see the guy doing the event and I got to stay!
Will you be throwing any more rooftop parties any time soon?
Well, I defiantly would like to and no matter how many times I get fucked with by the cops I end up getting myself involved in one somehow. Had to go to court twice last year and at the last one this year the cops told me if they caught me doing another one they were gonna take my tables and sound. Haha.
I could be wrong but I heard you make music for commercials?
Yeah, in the beginning of last year one of my goals was to get some music I produced in a commercial or two. I ended up selling a few, one to Amex, Kool-Aide, Fcuk and a few others. Now, i'm kinda over it and have new goals trying to just do my own thing.
Who are some producers that influenced you early on and who are you into now?
Man there's too many to name...
Early on everything from DJ ZInc to Premier. Those are my roots Jungle/DNB & Hip Hop.
If I had to do like 5 producers I'm really into right now it would have to be Computer Club, 12th Planet, Kill The Noise, Treasure Fingers & Foamo
Who would you like to work with in the near future?

Can we expect a full length album any time soon?
Maybe not too soon for TADT but I have an album I'm working on with my new group Monster Squad (www.myspace.com/monstersquad). Will definitely have some TADT singles coming out this year on a few indie labels and major. ;)

I have a pretty basic set up with just my laptop, Mackie 824's, Midi Controller, & Apogee Duet.

Hahah, man it's been a while. I think the last time was really stupid. It was during one of the world series with the Yanks & Sox. I was walking out of this bar and the I had my Yankees hat on. Some asshole yelled at me "Yankees fucking suck!" so I said "Fuck you Boston sucks" then he charged me and grabbed my shirt so I just duffed him square in the face. I thought his homies were gonna jump on me but they didn't and I got a few more hits in before one of my friends actually broke it up. So stupid.
